As a teenager, Lyme Regis was my escape from reality. Every summer, I’d pack a bag, hop on the train, and head south, from my home in the countryside to my aunts' studio in Lyme Regis. She’d introduce me to her friends, take me to parties, and set me up with summer jobs in fun shops and galleries. I gradually got to know the place well. These are my recommendations for the best places to eat in Lyme Regis.

Amazing places to eat in Lyme Regis
1. The Harbour Inn
The Harbour Inn in Lyme Regis is a welcoming seaside restaurant offering a memorable dining experience with spectacular views across Lyme Bay and the historic Cobb. Its menu showcases freshly prepared dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, particularly Dorset seafood, alongside hearty meat, vegetarian, and seasonal options. Guests can enjoy favourites such as fresh fish, seafood specials and traditional British classics, complemented by a selection of real ales, fine wines, spirits, refreshing ciders and freshly brewed coffee. Whether dining indoors or relaxing on the beachfront terrace, visitors can savour delicious food, quality drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere while taking in the beautiful coastal scenery.2. The Alexandra Hotel
The Alexandra’s afternoon tea is a refined celebration of classic British flavours, served in an elegant setting with beautiful coastal views. Guests can enjoy freshly baked scones with Dorset clotted cream and strawberry jam, delicate finger sandwiches, and an assortment of homemade cakes, all prepared with care. A choice of premium teas or freshly brewed coffee completes the experience, while sparkling options add an extra touch of indulgence.
3. Mark’s at The Pop Up Kitchen
Back in action after the closure of his Oyster and Fish House a couple of years ago, this brand new pop-up uses local suppliers and British seasonal ingredients. The menu changes regularly with different themes, like steak night and pie night, ensuring every visit feels unique. Carefully selected wines complement the food, creating a memorable meal that celebrates simplicity, quality, and genuine hospitality in an inviting, super intimate setting. My favourite tipple from the old days—the Black Cow Vodka Martini—isn't on the menu, but fingers crossed it'll be back soon.| Cocktails, Hix style |

Hive Beach Café is a seafood lover’s destination, celebrated for its fresh crab and locally landed catch served just steps from the shore.
