I fell in love with Ana Leovy's bold abstract paintings and colourful street scenes a few months before I was due to fly into Mexico City. Through her work using acrylic, gouache and watercolour the Mexican artist represents strong confident women living in vibrant worlds that are a fusion between real life and her imagination.

I bought one of Ana's incredible pieces online, so when I found out she had been living in Mexico City I asked for some insider knowledge before my trip. She's as brilliant as her work and let me in on some of the cities most fabulous hangouts.
After a wander around Frida Kahlo's La Casa Azul, Museo Casa de Leon Trotsky and getting lucky with an incredible private tour inside Luis Barragan's Casa Gilardi I followed Ana's lead and headed to some of the best places to eat in Mexico City.
